Osteopathy

The body is a whole, that constantly strives for balance. In a state of health this happens effortlessly, but following illness, injury or under stress this balance can be disrupted. In that case osteopathy might be the treatment that your body would benefit from. The most important task of an osteopath is to find and help you remove the possible obstacles from the body, in order enable health and the self-healing mechanisms of the body.

Osteopathy is the oldest form of western manual therapy. For the past 125 years osteopathy has kept on developing and expanding. The ever-increasing volume of research shapes the osteopathic treatment models and especially the rapidly increasing understanding in pain science influences the developments of current osteopathy significantly. Osteopathy also entails its own special fields, cranial and visceral osteopathy. In these fields osteopaths rely on empirical clinical evidence and positive treatment results. Scientific approach as well as the clinical work mirror the fundamental perception of the human being as an entity of body, mind and spirit.

Osteopathy is complementary to other medical practices. In certain cases, osteopathy is a primary form of healthcare. During consultations differential diagnosis is based on medicine, but the treatment is not limited to it. Relevant psychological and social factors also form part of the diagnostic process.

Osteopathic treatment for adults and children:

Pain is clearly one of the most common reason to seek osteopathic care, but by far it is not the only one. Other common causes for visiting an osteopath are movement restrictions, swelling, muscle spasms or nerve impingements. Often several symptoms occur simultaneously. Osteopathy works on the body as well as the mind. Stress, sleeping disorders and other psychosocial complaints are influenced by treating the body. When the body feels good, the mind feels lighter.

Osteopathic treatment might suit you, in case you are looking for help in the following problems:

  • pain
  • movement restrictions and stiffness
  • swelling or congestion
  • nerve impingements, radiating pain
  • sport injuries
  • post-operative edema
  • stress, sleeping disorders, fatigue
  • functional digestive problems
  • symptoms related to breathing

You can also book an appointment without having specific symptoms. Osteopathy can maintain your well-being and work as a preventative measure.
